Since 2001, the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority has operated a shuttle service from Cape Cod to Boston for residents needing specialty medical appointments. The shuttle picks up passengers at seven stops across the Cape and drops them off directly at their appointments in Boston.

Illinois county offering free bus vouchers for well-woman visits

In Will County, IL, a Chicago exurb, Census tract surveys found that transit was a major barrier for women to get to their annual wellness visits. The Will County Health Department (WCHD) partnered with Pace Suburban Bus, a local transit agency, to connect women with bus vouchers to access necessary preventative care.

In 2017, the Needham Community Council began supplementing its volunteer driver medical transportation program with trips provided through the ridehailing company, Lyft. Lyft rides were funded through the Needham Community Council operating budget and a donation from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Needham.
